Yep, lucky right? Well, I’ll say they deserved it. They were surely deserving, given the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo deserved an international trophy with Portugal after winning 1 UEFA Champions League Title and 3 English Premier League Titles with Manchester United and 2 UEFA Champions League Titles, a Copa Del Rey and a Club World Cup with Real Madrid.
Portugal opened the UEFA Euro 2016 with a lackluster 1-1 draw with Iceland, 442oons.com made a funny cartoon about him being teased by Iceland’s players. the next match was against Austria, where he missed 2 chances on goal and a penalty, yep that literally smacked his impression. last group stage match was against Hungary, a 3-3 draw. he was singing ‘2 goals to me’ but yet his team drew 3-3. but since it was a 24 nation tournament, his side progressed with a better goal difference and 3 points from 3 draws. Yes, very very lucky S.O.B’s Fernando Santos’s men are for sure, Europe’s luckiest :D.
The Portuguese are among one of the nicest people anyone can meet, very gentle, fun loving and very cool minded (just like the Spanish) and their women are beautiful :).
(Hey, lets stick to football shall we………..lol :P).
Portugal defeated a highly spirited and hot running Croatia 1-0 in extra time, Thanks to Ricardo Quaresma’s goal in the 106th minute. Croatia did go home in tears but the Portuguese gave their opponents loads of respect, #Respect. Portugal then defeated Poland 3-1 on penalties in the quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw in regulation time which saw Robert Lewandowski score his first goal of the European Championships for Poland.
Came the semi-finals, Gareth Bale’s Wales were highly spirited following their 3-1 demolition of Belgium. But given Aaron Ramsey’s suspension, Wales were a bit demoralized. between the 50th and 53rd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner in crime Nani scored the vital goals for Portugal. No wonder how much personal bias I had against Portugal, they deserved the win.
Came the final, Man! what an ending ceremony! I loved the tournament, so full of surprises!
Eder plies his trade at LOSC Lille-Metropole, and the French are gonna give him a strange feeling (because he recently signed for them from Swansea City). Eder was Portugal’s most under rated striker, but he did it! the game winning goal, a screamer in the 116th minute! it shook France’s nerves, shook Hugo Lloris and worried Pogba.
Portugal were outshot, outgunned and out possessed by France, but they held their nerve. beyond 90 minutes they held their nerve. Eder escaped a handball luckily and instead had Frenchman Laurent Koscielny cautioned and just after that, GOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
Lucky, and Deserving! they deserved it! Congratulations to Portugal for winning the hearts of the football universe. and Cristiano Ronaldo is a deserving player for sure.
All the best guys! 🙂
